Come and Journey!
On Ash Wednesday, February 17th, we begin our Lenten journey. As "Companions on a Journey," our community experiences together a period of discernment—the 40 days in the desert, and the triumphal entry of Jesus to the holy city on Palm Sunday. In Holy Week we gather on Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday to share that great love that Jesus has for all the world.
As Jesus did, we begin our travels in Capernaum and walk to the Holy Land—a total of 144kms! This year we challenge one another to walk together—spiritually and literally! Are you able to walk this distance between Ash Wednesday and Palm Sunday? Keep track of your steps and submit by filling out the online form: Keeping Track of my Walk, or by calling the parish office weekly so we can track our progress! As a community, we are in the midst of our visioning process and are reminded of that wonderful hymn “Companions on a Journey” by Carey Landry. Each week in Lent, we will look each week at a different lyric from the hymn and how it relates to who we are as a community: February 21: Lent One “We are companions on the journey” February 28: Lent Two “Breaking bread and sharing life” March 7: Lent Three “No longer strangers to each other” March 14: Lent Four “We have been gifted with each other” March 21: Lent Five “To act with justice, to love tenderly” March 28: Lent Six “To walk side by side with hope in our hearts” |
