Ukrainian Family Update
January 2023 With endorsement of Parish Council Christ Church is supporting two families who have fled the war in Ukraine and have sought protection in Canada. We have agreed to support these families for one year. Our first family of five has been supported since of 2022 and are settled in an apartment and the children are in schools. This family was identified through the a member of the parish. The father is working full time. However the rent for this apartment is beyond the financial capacity of the family after the Church’s support is ended. Any leads members of the congregation might have on an affordable apartment would be welcome. A second family of three was identified from posts on the Atlantic Canadians host Ukrainians Facebook group. They were met at the airport after their flight from Poland on October 31. One of the members of your Ukrainian support committee has provided room in her home from their arrival until they were moved into their apartment on December 29. Christ Church will provide support for their rent for year. We have insufficient funds to support the family for the whole year so are soliciting contributions to this ministry again. The Ukrainian support committee would like to thank everyone who has contributed to supporting the ministry. |
